Do You Need Help?

Every family’s circumstances are unique and each application will be considered on its merits. Click here to view a list examples that might warrant favourable consideration from the Keeping Watch Grants Committee. This list is by no means exhaustive and if you are unsure, you should consult your Divisional staff or Contact Us to enquire about assistance.

How to apply?

To apply for assistance from Keeping Watch, print and complete this Application Form and send it by post, fax or email to the addresses in the Contact Us section of the website. Any supporting documentary evidence that you may wish to send to Keeping Watch to assist the Grants Committee will be carefully considered and treated confidentially. This might include a supporting statement from a work supervisor, Commanding Officer, a School Teacher, Priest or Medical Practitioner. Documentary evidence of expenses relevant to the application might also be provided.

What timeframe can I expect?

Keeping Watch will make every effort to assist Navy members and their families in a timely and compassionate manner throughout the application process. While the Keeping Watch Grants Committee is required to consider each and every application, they will not always formally meet in person to do so. Virtual committee meetings will be convened to assess urgent cases and the outcomes of their decisions are likely to be known within days. Less urgent grant applications will normally be considered in the quarterly Keeping Watch Grants Committee meetings.

What to expect?

All applicants will be contacted and kept informed of the process and of the decision made by the Grants Committee. You may be contacted for further information in relation to your application. Successful applicants will be paid by an electronic funds transfer to your Bank Account.

For those who cannot be helped under the terms of Keeping Watch, we will endeavour to assist by referral to another agency.

How will your privacy be protected?

All applications will be treated within strict privacy guidelines as per the Australian Privacy Act.

WHAT DO OUR NAVY FAMILIES SAY?

  • M Bult - HMAS Hobart

When there was an unfortunate circumstance that resulted in financial hardship for a family member, Keeping Watch was eager to help out as much as possible. My divisional staff were more than accommodating to ensure that I understood the process, and between them and the Keeping Watch team I was constantly reassured that the help my family desperately needed at the time was being organised. Keeping Watch is the light at the end of the tunnel, you just need to reach out and ask for the help.
  • D Smith - Canberra

I cannot thank Keeping Watch for helping us in our time of need. We were struggling with living expenses after a death in the family and I found out about Keeping Watch. I'm so glad I conatcted them to see how they could help. They were amazing throughout and the money could not have come at a better time. We are now moving forward positively and looking to the future. Thank you so much.

I would highly recommend Keeping Watch if you need financial help and are a Navy family. We experienced an unexpected family crisis and we were struggling to meet daily living expenses and child care costs. Keeping Watch helped us through this difficult situation with a grant and offered some very valuable advise on how to deal with the loss. If you need help, contact Keeping Watch.
